This agreement
This agreement is between you and Michael Jenkins ("Jam Rig", "we", "us"). It covers the Jam Rig desktop app and the Jam Rig FX plugin (together, the "Software"). By installing or using the Software you agree to it. If you don't agree, don't install or use the Software.
Your license
When you buy a license, we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, perpetual license to install and use the Software for your own music making and practice, including commercial recordings and live performances. You may activate one license on up to 2 computers that you own or control. The Software is licensed, not sold; we keep all rights not expressly given to you.
Free trial
The trial lasts 7 days from when you first start the Software. It includes Play with up to three plugins per chain (guitar and keys each), Jam, and Jam Rig FX with up to three plugins; Practice unlocks when you activate a license. When the trial ends, plugins no longer load and Jam is locked until you activate a license, and Jam Rig FX passes audio through unprocessed. Setting your computer's clock back ends the trial. Your presets, recordings, and other files stay on your computer either way.
Activation and license checks
- Activating sends your license key, operating-system name, and a short device code derived from a hashed device identifier to our licensing provider, Lemon Squeezy. The code links the activation to your computer and license; it is pseudonymous rather than anonymous.
- When you're online, the Software re-checks the license about once a week. Being offline, or a temporary outage, doesn't lock you out.
- To move to a new computer, deactivate the old one in the Software first. If a computer is lost or broken, email us and we'll free up the activation.
Updates
Your license includes all updates to version 1 of the Software (1.x) at no extra cost. A future major version, such as Jam Rig 2, may be offered as a paid upgrade. You can keep using the version you bought for as long as you like.
What you may not do
You may not:
- share, sell, rent, or lend the Software or your license key;
- activate a license on more computers than it allows, or bypass the trial or license checks;
- reverse engineer or decompile the Software, except where the law allows it despite this restriction;
- remove copyright or license notices.
Third-party plugins and content
Jam Rig hosts VST3 plugins made by other companies. They aren't part of the Software and are licensed to you by their makers, under their own terms. Song names, artists, and links in the Song Explorer, and links to videos, tabs, or PDFs, are references only; that content belongs to its owners. The Software includes third-party components listed in its About screen (Settings > About Jam Rig) under their own licenses.
Built-in sounds
You may use the built-in drum sounds, generated metronome sounds, and starter presets in your recordings and performances, including commercially, without paying us royalties. Third-party content remains subject to its own license; this agreement does not restrict rights granted under those licenses, including CC0.
Your content
Your presets, setlists, recordings, loops, and jams are yours and are stored on your computer. Only record or import material you have the right to use. Back up anything you'd hate to lose.
What the Software sends
The Software does not collect analytics. It connects to the internet to activate, validate, and deactivate your license with Lemon Squeezy, and to check getjamrig.com for updates (you can turn this off in Settings). These requests expose your IP address to the receiving provider; update requests also include the app version and operating system.
Crash reports and logs stay on your computer unless you choose to email them to us. Links and searches you choose open external services in your browser. Third-party plugins may make their own network connections under their own policies. The Privacy Notice has the details.
Feedback
If you send us feedback, bug reports, or ideas, we may use them to improve Jam Rig without owing you anything.
No warranty
To the fullest extent allowed by law, the Software is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted or error-free operation. This doesn't affect your right to a refund under the Refund Policy or any rights you have under consumer law.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost data, lost profits, or damage to equipment or hearing, arising from use of the Software. Our total liability is limited to the price you paid for your license. Nothing in this agreement limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Keep your volume at a safe level, and check the output level before connecting headphones or speakers.
Ending this agreement
You can end this agreement at any time by uninstalling the Software. We may end your license if you break this agreement; if we do, you must stop using the Software. A refunded license is deactivated. The sections on third-party content, your content, feedback, no warranty, and limitation of liability continue after the agreement ends.
Governing law
This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, USA, and disputes will be handled by the state or federal courts located in Oregon. If you are a consumer, you also keep any protection given by the laws of the country where you live.
Changes
We may update this agreement in later versions of the Software. The updated agreement is shown with that version and applies once you install it.
